How To Transfer Files Using FTP(File Transfer Protocol)
To work with pages:
Hi, Dianne. I would suggest that you carry out the following instructions and copy the code for The Gallery into your computer.
Make a new Folder under an appropriate name, I would suggest that this be in the Local Disc (C:).
Go to the original domain, open a page, and "View page source"(by using right click) the code
of a particular web page.
Copy the code.
Open Notepad,(by clicking on Start and then Notepad), and Paste, and
Save As using the same name as that of the original source. (Make sure you use the .html suffix if it's a document.
This then can be editted. Right click on the file name and choose Edit.
Make your desired changes and Save As (Use All Files in "Save as type" slot) Choose Yes to the warning that the file already exists.
To check the editting: Right click on the file name and choose Open.
P.S. You can also make original files to transfer and also collect jpg's ready for transferring.
To Transfer Editted Files:
Open an FTP program. (You can download free FTP software from the net.)
I use File Zilla
- Highlight the source program on your computer (on the left side of the form)top panel.
Highlight the file you wish to transfer(on the left side of the form)middle panel
- Fill in the Destination particulars (address, user name, password).
-Click on the file you wish to transfer. Voila!, a warning message appears stating that this file
already exists and you can overwrite it if you wish(do it if you're certain about your editting)
